This is the state of a brand new home which a family says is so bad they've been reduced it to tears. The Big House, also known as Landshipping House, is a historic house on the banks of the River Cleddau in Landshipping, Pembrokeshire, Wales. This is a tad unfair and inaccurate: the previous owners did in fact successfully obtain planning permission back in the 1990s for the Big House … The local pub 'The Stanley Arms' closed down many years ago, and with no shop or any other facilities, the sense of isolation increased as a loaf of bread or pint of beer or milk became a one hour expedition. By then I was pregnant with our second child and caring for our disabled son and the rest of our combined family of four children, from our caravan base. By 1883 the Landshipping Estate appears to be owned by two grandchildren of Mary Ann, that is, Captain later Major Edward Stanley (1853-1896) and James Douglas Talbot Stanley but is still subject to the control of the Trust. They planned to use traditional methods - using the large store of stone already on the site; huge oak beams they'd had cut at Hean Castle near Saundersfoot and a traditional Welsh slate roof.
